So far it’s been a pretty wild ride. Looking back I feel like I’ve lived five lives already. From where I started, to where I am now, it’s been an amazing journey.
I always knew I had to do it my way. Even from a young age, I wanted to forge my own path. School wasn’t going to teach me what I needed to know so I dropped out at 17.
My immigrant parents did the best they could and even though money was tight, they provided me with everything I truly needed to grow up to be a decent human being. Raised in Scarborough, with a lack of money, education and guidance, the odds were definitely stacked against me. I learnt how to hustle and to trust my instincts at an early age. I wouldn’t have made it out of Scarborough if I didn’t.
The bright lights of the big city caught my attention, and before I was even of legal age, I was already working in nightlife and I finally found a place that felt like home. Working for the best in the city wasn’t enough though. A spontaneous 2 year stint in Miami taught me everything I needed to know about lifestyle & nightlife.
I moved back in 1999 with a big vision and an even bigger desire to create and transform Toronto’s nightlife and entertainment scene. Since then it’s been a non-stop grind, creating a dozen businesses since my return. These include award winning restaurants, nightclubs, bars, spas, health supplements, fitness events and music festivals.
Having traveled to over 60 countries over the past 20 years. I’ve been fortunate enough to experience the wild and wonderful, the best of the best, as well as the harsh reality of utter poverty that exists on our planet. Nothing has taught me more about myself, society, humanity and has given me such a deep sense of gratitude, than my travels.
Through my global adventures I developed my passion for photography. It brings me great pleasure to be able to share my stories in a beautiful, vivid way giving the viewer an authentic visual experience of all the amazing cultures, countries and people that I encounter along the way. I truly see the world in a very different way now. Since picking up the hobby in 2011, I have photographed over 20 countries and destinations which include; India, Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam, Hong Kong, Australia, South Africa Brazil, Costa Rica, Morocco, Croatia, Nicaragua, Belize and Guatemala.
Each year I host my CAPTURE(D) photo exhibit to raise money and greater awareness for our charity ARTBOUND. To date we have raised over $1,000,000 and have used these funds to build 2 all girls art schools with Free the Children as well have supported charitable initiatives in Central America.
I’m a strong believer that without health you have nothing. I owe so much of what I have achieved to my commitment to fitness. Living a healthy, balanced life which includes eating well and training on a regular basis has been paramount in my success and drive. At the age of 40 I decided to push my limits both mentally and physically and competed in my first Fitness competition. 3 shows and 2 years later I stepped on stage at the Canadian Nationals and placed 3rd. During that 2 year journey I learnt so much about nutrition, training and everything it takes to take your physique to an optimal level.
I’m on the continuous pursuit of growth and have an insatiable appetite for learning and am always pushing my boundaries to discover new ways to enjoy life. Some of my other personal passions and interests include; running, snowboarding, cycling, hiking, road trips, auto & motorcycle racing as well as anything fitness and adventure related. If I can get a sweat on with friends and have a good time, I’m all in!
